Was looking for a replacement French Press because ours was old and stained and we stopped using the separate plastic frame with handle as it was too much of a hassle to put it back on and to photograph. for cleaning. (Why we stopped using French glass presses and switched to plastic presses is precisely because of the dangers of turning the press on and off.) Now that we're cold brewing, the press sits on the counter in front of everyone much longer. It's time for an upgrade. Read all reviews of plastic, glass and metal presses. And then I saw this press. That is different; that is beautiful; no worries about what is made in China, what metal, solder or plastic is used; and it's less likely to break than the glass versions, so you don't have to deal with an external frame, just the pot itself. I toss the pressing mechanism in the dishwasher (top shelf) with no side effects; The pot itself can be washed in the dishwasher - and I do sometimes - but it's so easy to just rinse it off that there's no reason to take up bottom shelf space. I am very happy with this press. It's also a great kettle, especially for loose tea, for families who need to brew more than a cup or two at a time.
