This was a gift for my daughter who loves to sing. She doesn't need amplification in the house, so I understand that it doesn't make her much louder. There is a feature where the microphone can select the vocals in the song and reduce its volume so the microphone user's voice can be heard over it. You can also stream music as normal. When you first turn on the microphone to connect to a Bluetooth-enabled device, the voice gets very loud and there's no way to turn the volume down. It seems pretty easy to use and would make a great gift.
