This lamp is not UL approved. As far as I can see it's not part of the lamp, certainly not the cartridge. The lack of any NRTL approval makes this lamp unsuitable for use in most of the United States. Also, and most importantly, it is not designed to support grounding. The only grounded part of the lamp is the base, not the metal parts of the lamp that you touch when changing the lamp! The main part of the lamp is insulated from the ceiling with plastic and nylon; the ground does not go beyond the canopy. This should not be sold in the US market. It clearly wasn't designed for that - it came with custom wire connectors and drywall anchors (like you didn't install it in an electrical junction box). UPDATE: The lampshade literally cracked in my hands when I carefully unscrewed it to return it. Thank god I was wearing gloves. The glass is wafer thin.
