You get more than what you pay for, albeit not perfect

I am giving this review five stars mainly because it is a cheap product. At this price I'm very happy with it, although I'm sure there are better products out there at higher prices. The turntable is small, with 12" platters protruding from the edges (although I knew that when I bought it, so can't really complain). The included speakers are great for what they are, but you'd be better off getting external speakers for serious listening (or use headphones, of course). The main reason you might want to go for a more expensive model is that it doesn't offer the right sound. an album I'm very familiar with, it seemed a little different. Nothing I'd have noticed on an album I'm less familiar with, but definitely something I've noticed on this one. I had to move the pitch slider to an odd spot, about three quarters to the right, and I'm pretty happy with the results, but it annoys me that I might not be hearing the right pitch perfectly. However, for $40, it was a good buy. I can't dream of getting anything better without spending extra money. So weigh your budget against what you're getting and decide if it's worth it. Everything seems to be well built and most importantly to me the vinyl to digital recording works great and isn't particularly difficult (although I was familiar with Audacity so those who haven't used the program might be overwhelmed with the options and the instructions are old and not really relevant). I bought it primarily to digitize a vinyl single that has never been released in any other format and it does the job perfectly. Given my budget, I'm happy to maintain this purchase, but if I were to use it more extensively to digitize a large collection, or just for listening, or if I had more money to invest in this project, I might consider one higher decide -final model.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
