Very well made and effective collar. However, we still feel a bit uncomfortable using it on our dog. This is the second HS collar we have used and there is no doubt that it is for strong willed dogs that just want to pull you and not walk with you. Our dog outgrew the first and had a slightly different style. The only reason I didn't give her 5 stars is because she looks "nasty". This is really unfair to the product and just a projection of my feelings towards using what we call pinci or crowns of thorns. In any case, it should only be used as a training device and not left on the dog all the time. This particular collar also works similarly to a martingale style collar, allowing the tines to stay loose and not pinch when your dog is not pulling. In addition, the teeth themselves are rounded and, if used correctly, will not damage the dog's skin. If you're still hesitating because it looks cruel, I understand! We only tried the HS collar during a training session at the recommendation of a trainer. It was literally day and night on the very first outreach in class and everyone saw it! If you find it difficult to walk your dog, you are afraid of being hurt by a strong dog and you just want to have a pleasant walk, and not play, tearing off your hand, I recommend this collar. Your dog will likely react immediately once he has caught your attention. After using this collar we have gotten to the point where walking her is a pleasure and we don't have to use it every time.
