Review on ๐Ÿ•บ Garmin fฤ“nix 5X Plus: Multisport GPS Smartwatch with Color Topo Maps, Pulse Ox, Music, and Pay - Black (Renewed) by Joz Lowe

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The watch is out of date

I spent a few hours getting the watch to connect to my phone and then connect to the computer via MTP. None of them worked. I contacted Garmin support and the support rep walked me through a series of troubleshooting steps and then offered to replace the device. It turned out that the software on the watch was so outdated that it couldn't connect to my phone. I'm not sure why I couldn't install it on my computer, but I suspect it has to do with that. I'll send it back tomorrow via UPS. Right now this is a one star rating because DOA. But so far the replacement process has been pretty painless and Garmin's support seems helpful and friendly, so if all goes well I'll update this review. ________________________________________________________________ I received a replacement from Garmin. It took about a week and they required a deposit to ship it before returning the old one. So some effort. But of course that's okay. I have understood. When I received it it was very easy to set up. Everything was pretty intuitive. Downloading and updating maps and software took about 30 minutes. Back then it was just a matter of tweaking things to my liking, which to be honest I was just messing around with before reverting to the defaults. The clock is pretty cool. I've researched tons of the best apps for mountain biking. It turns out that Garmin's standard MTB app is already great and better or equal to all the other options, many of which require a subscription. So I would recommend that. I just want them to update the watch when they fix it. Garmin software stops working if it is too old.
