Sporty and portable GPS navigators at a bargain price

I bought this to replace my Fenix 3 (not HR) that I lost during a trip to Switzerland. I found it very difficult to justify over $700 for an FR945 or Fenix 6x, but with many of the same features, this updated 5x plus ticks the price/feature bill. The "updated" watch came in rather flimsy packaging. The watch, the charging cable and the instructions were just lying around in the Garmin refurbished box. Still, everything looked brand new, with no cosmetic flaws. All watches appear to work as…

Pros
  • Adventurous with rugged construction with scratch resistant domed sapphire crystal, stainless steel or diamond-like carbon (DLC) bezel with titanium bezel and case back
Cons
  • Available in black only

Great watch I couldn't be happier

Great watch I could be happier. I bought this watch on March 21, 2021 and received it via FEDEX on March 23, 2021. A day earlier than promised. BE CAREFUL! You will not WOW! Just like you do when you launch a brand new product. The watch came in a Garmin box with "restoration" logos on all sides. Came in a plastic bag, with two books and a charging cable, easy as pie. The watch was clean with no visible damage, stains, cracks, dents or scratches, like a new watch. I did a factory reset of the…

Perfect reference watch.

I switched from Instinct to this Fenix 5x plus. Packed with features, these watches have the advantage of being able to have different dials. I personally use mine for work and for hunting and golf. I plan to get back into my exercise program and enjoy cycling. The Garmin app is great and always works flawlessly. The glass is sapphire and very scratch resistant. I'm quite a tall guy so I don't notice the overall size of this watch but be aware they are LARGE. It's also a very stylish…

Not Impressed Yet

Longtime Fitbit User I was looking for something more accurate and reliable. Ok GPS, tracking, heart rate are all cool and seem to be working accurately. Or at least give the same numbers as Fitbit. The smartphone functionality is annoying. But it's normal. I didn't buy a smart watch. Oily life sucks. With activity of about a few hours a week, it disappears after 10 days. I tried tweaking by removing the brightness, gestures, etc. Now it's gone in 3 days! Am I lucky enough to buy a refurbished…

The watch is out of date

I spent a few hours getting the watch to connect to my phone and then connect to the computer via MTP. None of them worked. I contacted Garmin support and the support rep walked me through a series of troubleshooting steps and then offered to replace the device. It turned out that the software on the watch was so outdated that it couldn't connect to my phone. I'm not sure why I couldn't install it on my computer, but I suspect it has to do with that. I'll send it back tomorrow via UPS. Right…
