This is an easy to use and functional small clock. It is powered by a single AA battery and there is no ticking noise in the countdown. When the countdown is over, the sound can be turned on or off ("beep-beep-beep") and just use the red visual cue. I use this for my kids' cleaning timer and to encourage difficult or unwanted tasks like getting out of bed in the morning, getting dressed, or helping my kids not to take too long a shower, etc. Audio and visual cues seem to help. . The color is cool too.
