I only bought these socks to have something to wear on long-haul flights to keep them from swelling. I travel long distances fairly regularly and every time I get terrible swelling in my legs, ankles and calves. I have to add that I'm the type of person who does everything right on these long flights – I get up and move a lot, stretch and exercise, drink lots of water, take anti-inflammatory meds – but nothing. seems to work. I would say my tumor would be an 8/9 on a swelling scale of 1 to 10 (1 being normal and 10 requiring medical attention). It would be so bad that it would take days for the swelling to go down. So for an upcoming trip from Minneapolis to Adelaide, Australia I decided to buy these compression stockings to see if they would make a difference. boy did they ever! The total travel time I had from the start to the end of this trip was about 30 hours each way (including flights, including transit and transfers). I still had swelling but I would only rate it a 3 on the scale. What a huge improvement! Also, the swelling I had was completely gone by the next day, making it easy to return to active life. I was very happy with my purchase and wish I had received it sooner! I will never walk long distances without them again! I can only recommend these socks! Pros: * Comfortable and lightweight * Thin enough to easily fit in most shoes * Looks like regular socks * Reduces swelling They were a little tall. slight shrinkage helped them function better and be more comfortable.
