After converting to tubeless tires I had more problems with valve cores than spikes and punctures. If too much sealant gets into the valve core, it creates a slow leak that is difficult to manage at the track. I bought a set of aftermarket valve cores and unfortunately they couldn't be tightened with my Park valve core tool because the heads of the core bolts were too big. The tool in this set is a replica of Park's, but it fits all the Presta valve cores I have. For the same price as the Park Tool you get valve inserts and 4 nicely machined aluminum valve covers. I am very happy with this purchase. FYI, I've found that sealant can be washed off used valve cores with solutions containing ammonia (I used Formula 409). If these washed cores pass the test, I will recycle them. I plan to take a core tool and some valve cores with me on my future trips.
