Cartridges of this size are supplied with the printer upon purchase. When both cartridges are installed, they deliver superior color and print quality. They don't have an expiration date like high capacity cartridges and unlike other people's posts, the expiration date is important. If you put a cartridge past its expiration date, the color will not live up to your expectations, and I've learned that the hard way. High-capacity twin packs at discount stores are attractively priced, but if you don't print a lot, the ink cartridge will degrade and you'll have to buy a new one. Black's large capacity does not appear to have been compromised. I hope this information helps other people who, like me, limit the number of colors I print and are unhappy with the expiry date of HP cartridges because they put them there for a reason. Always get the longest possible expiry date.
