I use them for acrylic fills. These 8" x 10" panels have a very light gesso finish (if present) and do not hold up well to heavy paint coverage without seeping through or wetting through the canvas/panel. To be fair, they're ok, but only ok. Corners may warp if 1/8 inch or more liquid paint is left on them until dry. Spots where you could see the texture of the canvas - I had to start by spray priming these panels which greatly increased my time and expense - unlike the US Art Supply panels, that are actually pre-primed with a generous gesso finish and don't appear to need a secondary primer. Nonetheless, note that using a primer, even on good quality pre-primed panels, will improve the quality of your grout as the paint will apply more smoothly and evenly. It's all about personal technique and what you need.
