We received this because we wanted to offer our two cats a safe alternative to declawing. The first two times we hired a professional groomer to put them in cat hats, but $40 a cat every two months is an expensive investment. We were ready to do it, but then COVID struck. Everyone in our house is immunocompromised and our barber is still mobile so it's an unnecessary risk. We decided to make the cat hats ourselves temporarily; However, the first time we got scratched, bitten and wet. That's when we decided that a muzzle would be a great idea. We muzzle them first to calm them down. Then we put the cat head first in the jacket and carefully fasten the Velcro around its neck. Then we fully tuck their bodies into the jacket, push their buttocks down and close them. You have to be fast! I recommend that you practice beforehand and become familiar with the jacket. I cannot stress enough that the velcro needs to be strong and secure. If you can put your finger in it, your pet can breathe. An attacking paw will also appear. You can then open each coordinating paw. We remove the caps, cut the nails, put on new caps, let them dry, wait a few minutes and move on to the next paw. They resisted at first, but it keeps them much calmer and ultimately safer for them and for us. I would not recommend it for swimming or traveling.
