I've ridden about 60 miles on 6-10 mile hilly/muddy trails in these boots so far. I usually run at Brooks Caldera, but now I choose KOA depending on the track and the weather. Fit - my usual shoe size (9) was perfect. I love the forefoot cushioning in these shoes - it's firm yet provides cushioning. I don't like the overly soft padding that some shoes have. If I could put this forefoot pad in my Brooks I would be smiling even at mile 29 of 50k. The grip is amazing! I've been running places and up/down hills that I've slid over since the rain started. Deep (8mm) lugs make these shoes perfect for mud. Waterproof - not as good as Goretex, but many times better than regular running shoes. They are not advertised as waterproof to get the job done. On the route I ran today, there were passages where water flowed in the middle of the trail or there were puddles that couldn't be jumped over. The sides and toe of these shoes are fairly water resistant, but the tongue is not. If I had walked this distance in my normal shoes I would have crushed them after the first kilometer. On a scale of one to 10 (1=bone dry, 10=soft): If I ran in Goretex today = 3, Koa ST = 4/5, regular Brooks = 10. Well I think these are really good running shoes for running on a wet, muddy trail in light rain or after rain. They probably aren't great for running on wet grass or in the pouring rain if you want to keep your feet dry.
