Review on Serfas Drifter Tire FPS 2 0 Inch by Calvin Booker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fantastic hybrid tire for your MTB!

I have a 2017 Specialized Rockhopper and a 2017 Trek FX-3. Trek is for tarmac only, while Spec. was bought for hard field and gravel roads. The Rockhopper came with 29 x 2.1 Ground Control knobs. I recently decided to ride my MTB on paved paths from time to time (for a change). The Ground Control tires roll pretty well, even with the bumps, but I was sure I could do better (and the tires squeaking from the bumps in the pavement were a little annoying). I discovered these Serfas tires and thought they might be just the trick I was looking for. They have a harder compound in the middle of the tire and a softer compound on the sides. Also (and this is my favorite attribute) they have an inverted profile, which is useful on hard-packed dirt and rock rails. Conclusion: They roll very well and are much quieter than cleats. The PSI range is 35-60psi. I had no trouble going from 14 to 18 mph on flat sections of track with tires inflated to 55 (5psi less than max). I wouldn't use these tires on single lane dirt roads, but they should be fine on regular dirt roads, driveways, or fire roads.
