Unfortunately, that transmitter was giving me such a headache. but we have a happy ending, read on. OLD DEVICE (same list) I couldn't get any sound from the TV using this channel, even though the device said it was connected. I've tried plugging this into various headphones including Mpow and Sony WH100XM2 headphones. Every attempt was unsuccessful and the sound never connected, not once. I tried this on a non-smart TV that had the appropriate sockets on the back of the TV. Here are the steps I took: 1. Connect the white/red cable to TV2. I set the switch to TX3. The transmitter starts flashing and I have connected it to my headphones4. The headphones say connected + the light stops blinking5. NO SOUND will not connect to headphones even though it says they are paired. 6. I tried changing the sound settings on my TV (PCM, Surround, Surround + PCM) but nothing worked. Repeated too many times to count. After reporting to the seller and communicating directly with Avantree Support, the issue remained unresolved. After sending them pictures of my TV's connection, they found the box to be incompatible and defective (which they described as 'rare'). Avantree customer support was very nice and helpful, they offered to send a replacement but I asked for a refund instead. A few months later I was sent a new/updated version of the "TC417 Bluetooth Transmitter/Receiver" which actually worked with no connection issues. Thing. The one I received (defective) is NOT the same item for this listing. BUT the link to the product/page remains the same. I'm not sure if Revain or the seller is aware of this. The new device is easy to connect but REALLY has a lot of static electricity and less range without dropping connection. This will be annoying when watching Youtube videos as you will hiss a lot when someone stops speaking. I would only use this device for playing music or watching movies in HD quality. I'm not sure why this is an issue if you're just watching youtube videos. but hissing noises are only visible on Youtube or Game Streaming. I would recommend this current/new TC417 unit now that it has been updated but I would be wary of static electricity. I hope this helps a little :)
