These are really great scissors. I like them in every way except the pair I received were NOT serrated. I used them to cut my hair, but they are not suitable for this due to the missing teeth. Otherwise the quality is excellent! They work great with everything else I've tried them on. The technique is excellent and the quality is perfect throughout. I can't imagine the scissors passing their quality control without a notch, but mine seems to have passed. The fit and finish of everything else is excellent. The outer part of the handles is made of hard plastic, cream color, maybe ivory color. The insides of the handle, where you hold it, are made of a softer, light gray plastic. They have enough grip to keep your hand from slipping and enough padding to use the scissors comfortably without being so soft that you lose control. The blades seem to handle anything that doesn't need serrations better than any other shears I've found. I really like her. They're just not good for what I bought them for, cutting hair. Maybe my mistake slipped through quality control, and the rest may have nicks.
