My 17 year old Suburban's Bose amp eventually died, not uncommon for these cars (first shutdown and recovery, eventually failed completely, but with the rear end Entertainment system is still providing sound in the headsets, indicating an amplifier failure). Removing the old amp is required to verify part numbers. DO NOT skip this step! It is difficult to remove/replace - GM's instructions are to remove the entire center console. You CAN enter from the top by removing the cup holders, the center console tray and the back of the entertainment system/cup holder - access to the front screws on the amplifier is very tight (7mm ratchet wrench or 7mm socket and a ratchet with knob, not the standard). You will need to pry out a back panel retaining clip, but you can avoid having to pull out the entire console to do so. I also recommend checking your speakers before replacing them - the connectors on both of my door speakers are damaged and they may be shorted out (or not open) causing the original amp to fail. After the replacement, music and beeps will sound crisp and clear again!
