Where do I start. First, there's some kind of chemical on those filter socks that's driving my skimmer crazy. I followed the directions and gave it a thorough rinse in freshly made RO/DI water before installing it and every time I changed the filter sock my skimmer, which was set for a very dry skimmat, went completely nuts within seconds . It fills the drip tray in minutes. To stop this I would have to raise the skimmer from the recommended depth of 7 inches to 1 inch. And even then it still foams in the cup. This takes almost 4-6 hours before everything that was ever in those filter socks is removed. So I decided to wash the remaining 2 brand new socks the same way I have used my other socks from online reef vendors for years. This was done to avoid the skimmer problem. So I washed them along with my old socks in the front loading HE washing machine with bleach and then washed them a second time with just water to rinse them out completely. After the second wash, I pulled them out and found these socks were almost falling apart. My other filter socks from another supplier have been washed at least 10 times with the same load and are in near pristine condition. Conclusion: Don't waste your time and money with these filter socks.
