I ordered this when I switched from my old substrate to Seachem Flourite Black Sand. When I (carefully) added black sand (pre-washed), my aquarium looked like a muddy puddle. At first I was very scared that I would kill everyone in the aquarium and I made a big mistake. But I took that head and added a plastic bottle with the bottom cut off and polyfill put in the bottle. I put the bottle on the power head and put it in the tank. Just an hour later I was able to see everyone in the tank again and they were fine (no loss on this endeavor)! It really made a big difference overnight and I changed the polyfill filter thread twice. I needed it again when planting my plants as I was kicking up some dust. But the day after we were crystal clear! I use a couple of foam filters in this tank so I have a pressure head on hand for water changes to really get the detritus I'm vacuuming up, or if the water needs extra polishing. It's 20 gallons long. This powerhead did its job well! I just wish he had a little thing to direct the water in a certain direction.
