Review on ๐Ÿ“ถ Enhance wi-fi connectivity with Belkin F5D9050 Wireless G Plus MIMO USB Network Adapter by Troy Meza

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great on Windows XP, even better on Ubuntu

I bought this wireless adapter so I wouldn't have to run a cable up to our old desktop computer. I chose this adapter because of the USB cable and stand. Our USB ports are on the back, right against the wall, so there's very little space. The USB ports on the front are very close to the ground and I didn't want the adapter to be kicked or crushed. The cable and stand allow you to place the adapter right on your desk, and the LED indicator is visible so we know it's working. Windows XP and Ubuntu 9.x are installed on our computer. XP took about five minutes to install, and the Belkin wireless network management interface is a bit clunky, but acceptable. I didn't have to do anything for Ubuntu. When I started Ubuntu, the wireless network icon showed that I was automatically connected. There was no need to search for drivers or install anything. Well done Ubuntu team! Pros: - Effortless installation for Ubuntu. - Installation with minimal effort for Windows XP. - Full WEP 54g connection. - A three-foot USB cable with stand allows you to move the adapter around for a clear wireless signal and visibility of adapter status. Indicator. Cons: - Bigger than expected - I wouldn't use this with a laptop. - The LED indicator needs to be bigger - it's a tiny dot. - Belkin Wireless GUI can be confusing for less experienced users.

Pros
  • Network Adapter
Cons
  • Low maintainability
