Review on πŸ”‘ Key Fob Cover Case Shell Keyless Entry Remote for Toyota Prius 2004-2009 (Set of 2) by Jerry Amos

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's definitely worth it and not too difficult to install. read notes.

My Prius is a 2007 Touring model. Other years and other keychains may vary slightly. Here are my thoughts on fitting and installation. I just changed the guts from my old FOB to the new case. 1) It's not waterproof, I think that's covered in another review and I figured it out knowing it's going to cost me $100 in laundry washing my keys. 2) Very quick installation, it took me 5 minutes. The hardest part was disassembling the old one, it was easier for me to attack from the back of the metal key. A flathead screwdriver that just fits in this square hole and a twist lever and it pops up. It requires some strength and a bit of head height, but it's not impossible. 3) A very small flathead screwdriver or a set of dental tools is required to remove the circuit board. It's all about easy removal. The circuit board fits perfectly into the new housing. It closes perfectly and without clipping tabs as I read in another review. It had a microgap all the way around and it wobbles a bit, but when fully installed it contracts. Don't forget the little black microchip on top of the back, that's the security key to start! 4) The battery cover screws fitted with no problems. 5) I was surprised that the old backup metal key would fit, some of the previous reviews said that was the problem. If you have mechanical knowledge, this is a very simple process. I watched some videos in the "How to do it" section and it helped to know how to do it. If you are a normal man or girl, these are not difficult processes, and they are painless processes as long as you do not stab yourself with a screwdriver. I will update this review over time and rate durability. So far I can recommend it.
