Auto Ignition Prevention

Transferred electronics from my old key fob to this one. The doors could be locked and unlocked, but the key fob would not start the car when inserted into the key fob slot. I spent 30 minutes bringing everything back so I could drive home

This is not quite normal

The circuit board and battery from the old key case fit in, although I had to file 2 small protrusions inside to fit (to avoid bending the circuit board). The problem is that the latch that holds the battery door doesn't work securely so the door slides off when you pull out the mechanical key or even when you take the key out of the car!

Looks and feels OEM without logo

Used to refresh a scratched and broken OEM key fob. Everything fits. I had to remove the seals from the native keychain. The battery screws are different, they are self-tapping screws, not mounting screws. I had to use silicone to make a gasket and a final seal before closing the case. Otherwise it will open easily. (the stock key fob has been melted down) and don't forget to move the chip into the new case. Except for the lack of the Toyota logo. You can't tell that from an OEM. And battery…

Saved $400 instead of buying two new ones

Access to the electronics was a hassle after I removed the battery. need guidance. You will also need an o-ring for the battery cover. Otherwise it looks good and works perfectly. A week after this change was processed, I tried to insert a new key fob into the key slot and the car didn't recognize the key. I could remove the key and the car would. I've found that when I use the old back with the new one, the other parts work after some tweaking in the key slot. I have a silver Toyota badge on…

It's definitely worth it and not too difficult to install. read notes.

My Prius is a 2007 Touring model. Other years and other keychains may vary slightly. Here are my thoughts on fitting and installation. I just changed the guts from my old FOB to the new case. 1) It's not waterproof, I think that's covered in another review and I figured it out knowing it's going to cost me $100 in laundry washing my keys. 2) Very quick installation, it took me 5 minutes. The hardest part was disassembling the old one, it was easier for me to attack from the back of the metal…

Toyota Gen2 Replacement Case Review

These cases offer very good value for money (5 stars) and work as an OEM FOB. Only 2 stars for the installation as it is difficult to safely open and place the components into the new case. 4 stars overall as they are not as waterproof as the OEM cases. A few points: Have a good set of mini screwdrivers. I had a 24-piece PRO TECH screwdriver set on hand. Remove the old battery cover and the battery. Be sure to save the old o-ring as the new body does not contain an o-ring. A new battery cover…
