I plugged mine in first and moved around the car to get a feel for the reception, to see if I really hid it and not just taped it to the window. Of course a more direct exposure was better, especially on AM, FM worked well but sometimes lost the HD signal when it was blanked out (if you have an HD tuner). So I went and installed mine at the top of the passenger side windshield, just behind the sun visor so it was a bit hidden and out of sight. You don't even notice it, especially from the outside where it's masked by naturally tinted windows. The length was perfect for this installation location. and glue for a thin antenna strip works well. I live in Arizona and we'll see how the heat reacts to that, but so far I've been very happy with the performance and no longer have to fiddle with my antenna running through the car.
