So the best way to repair a double door is to drill out the old worn hole first. The old hole was almost certainly 3/8 inch. Drill a 1/2" hole (larger than the original) and glue in a 1/2" dowel. Wait a day to dry. Then drill a new 3/8 inch hole and use it for the new hinge. The added support from the nail/screw holes will help stabilize the bottom hinge and postpone the day you need to replace it again. If the hole is still in reasonable condition, you may not need to drill it. Anyway I like these upgraded hinges, much better than the ones you just stick in old holes and hope for the best.
