Definite Hardware Upgrade

This is a definite hardware upgrade from the hardware that came with my double closet doors. These hinges are strong, well constructed and provide a smooth glide.

Won't stay in place. - Single & Double Door Hardware

Requires locknut to hold in place after adjustment. After installing, opening and closing the door, screw the pin into the body and the door will fall out from above or the door will start to drag along the carpet. If you get this, locate the locking nut before installing it.

Nice, better part than the original

So the best way to repair a double door is to drill out the old worn hole first. The old hole was almost certainly 3/8 inch. Drill a 1/2" hole (larger than the original) and glue in a 1/2" dowel. Wait a day to dry. Then drill a new 3/8 inch hole and use it for the new hinge. The added support from the nail/screw holes will help stabilize the bottom hinge and postpone the day you need to replace it again. If the hole is still in reasonable condition, you may not need to drill it. Anyway I like…
