Review on Lamin X Bicycle Frame Guard Matte by Randy Albright

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It takes a lot of time and patience! Not a simple app!

I knew it would take time to be successful. Make sure you have enough time and patience. On my first try I was very frustrated and threw most of the product in the trash. I carefully measured, made embossed cuts, used a spray and blow dryer to ensure the piece conformed to the curves and even wrapped around the soft edges. It would not and would not fit! I ended up clipping a lot of what I cut, essentially wasting material. I stepped back and calmed down a bit, took the rest of the material out of the trash and tried again with MUCH smaller pieces. It went a bit easier but still took a long time to get right and the parts were so much smaller I'm not sure it would be useful. I wanted to wrap the seatstays, bottom of the downtube, and sides of the downtube. The tape is too narrow to cover the bottom and sides of the downtube, but too wide to cover just the bottom of the downtube, leaving you immediately stuck with a lot of waste. I cut the tape in half to cover the seatstays, which seemed to work well, but I'm a little concerned that the tape will lift after some use as the edge of the tape ends. Right now I'm giving it three stars because it's advertised as a simple app, which it's not, and also because of the amount of junk left over. After some use I'll see how it holds up and rewrite the review. Positive note: I bought the matte finish because my bike has a matte finish. It's very poor to see in the spots where I've been able to set it up properly, which made me very happy.
