If you have a car that does NOT turn off the cigarette lighter when the ignition is switched on then this is a must have. I turn off the right socket with the switch on the unit and turn on/off the radar detector with the left socket switch. So far so good, I've only been using it for 3 weeks. Even with both outlets turned off, the USB ports still work and the voltage sensor still draws power, albeit very little. The voltage detector shows about 0.3-0.5 volts lower than my radar detector voltmeter reading, but not sure which is correct. Anyway, I like the product so far.
