Review on Trudeau Pop-up Lid Salt or Pepper Shaker - 1 Shaker (Color May Vary) by Latoya Luckett

I need a salt shaker to use on my tray/table (like a hospital table but swivels on a base plate) . ) that will not splatter all over my body if (not if) I tip over and/or get knocked down. The design looked good, but I didn't get a chance to try it out. It smelled like perfume* so I wanted to wash it to try and get rid of the smell. Well, the disassembly instructions state that they must be followed "carefully" to take them apart for washing. The wordless instructions don't make it clear how to detach the small silicone "ears" from the small, well-hidden plastic pins. I ended up stretching the silicone enough to snap the little ears off the pins, rendering the whole thing unusable. It's probably not worth sending back.* This seems to be happening more and more often with different items. It's even om/ in some foods. I am sensitive to many smells, but I would like to know what this smell is supposed to be hiding.
