I wired my new building for 14 loudspeakers. I moved in December and have since done a lot of research on wall and ceiling speakers. I was willing to shell out around £1.5-2k for models from more well-known brands (Polk, Boston Acoustics, Klipsch, etc.). Then I stumbled across them at Revain and thought I'd try a 5 piece set to see how they would sound in my living room. I have 10ft ceilings so I chose 8ft 3-way speakers with 16 gauge speaker wire. Needless to say, this is one of the best and mildly happy purchases I've made in a while. The only thing that worries me is installing the grille after you have mounted the speaker to the wall. Installing the first speaker took about 1 hour, but the rest went a lot easier once I learned how to work with a drywall saw and knew the exact size of the hole that needed to be. Replacing the grille cover was difficult, mainly because the plastic frame could warp a bit after the speaker was secured to the ceiling. If your opening is too narrow, the frame will be deformed so much that the grill will be difficult to install. So I took needle nose pliers and made a crease on the edge of the grill cover (the part that is folded and wedged into the body). I only grabbed the lip about 1/4 inch, rotated it about 90 degrees and repeated on 4 sides. This reduces the circumference by a few millimeters to make grating assembly easier. Be careful not to twist too much. After the installation was complete, I connected my speakers to my Onkyo receiver and played some tunes in stereo, allowing me to stand under each speaker and be immediately impressed. Good bass, mids and highs. I added a 10" subwoofer to give the movie effects a boom factor. I look forward to purchasing the other 9 speakers I need at the price of more expensive brands. I will save about 1.5 thousand with these speakers!
