Powerful and quiet on computer components

I was skeptical at first after reading the reviews. If you read reviews of power supplies you will find that they all have some glitches where they blow your components, of course people complain about that. I took precautions anyway and hooked it up to the old system for a few days of heavy usage. Everything was very stable and clean. The voltage doesn't jump around like the cheaper power supplies I buy. Now I installed it on my new computer with higher quality components. The GPU and CPU seem to be very stable and never run out of power. The fan usually stays off when not in need of cooling itself. This is a good feature as it doesn't clog with dust or make noise. However, I'm curious to see how this will affect his life as a whole. In general, warmer/hotter electrical components result in shorter lifespans. I'm sure they took that into account and adjusted the temp/fan settings accordingly. A few things I don't like though are the cables and that goes against most manufacturers. They go through the sleeve and are heat shrinkable to the terminals. This makes it very difficult to bend or route cables properly without applying significant force to the connectors. First, I know I don't want the cable to create torque for an expensive GPU or my motherboard. As a result, conductor tracks or soldered connections on circuit boards can break. All wires used to be free and easier to bend. I wish the PSU manufacturers would make the ends more flexible. I was also a little confused as to why the factory box had new stickers and such. I've seen it in retail stores and at Revain where Corsair sells it. Eventually the box was opened and officially sealed. They changed the barcodes and put new factory seals on the box. I really wonder why. Did they replace components, manual/documentation or what? @Corsair can you tell me why? Or should I be worried that this isn't real? It looks very authentic like it was made by Corsair so I'm not sure what to make of it.

Pros
  • 80 Plus Platinum: runs cooler and uses less power than less efficient power supplies
Cons
  • Long delivery time
