I use it in repeater mode. Setup was pretty easy, if you're able to do that I highly recommend hooking it up to the 5GHz band if you can get a signal where you want to set it up. During setup, name the 2 new networks the same as your existing 2.4 and 5GHz bands and use the same password for a smooth transition. I installed it about 50 feet away from my existing router, which connects to my 5 GHz network through some aluminum clad walls, and I can get 50-60 Mbps in about 300 feet, so in combination with my existing router can turn on Wi-Fi. all my property.
