For the money it does a good job. If you feed the meat it will straighten, I found it best to remove the plastic meat feed guide. I use it primarily for packaged boneless pork loin that I cut to 1/2 inch thickness. It works great for me with this type of meat, but it spreads as you put the meat through the tenderization process. The softeners are hard plastic which works very well, the unit is surprisingly heavy, it also clamps up to 2 inches, my countertop was a little thicker so I used a kitchen table, no problem, easy to clean, just dip in hot I use soapy water with a small brush to clean the fabric softener gears and rinse with hot water.
