Review on Monoprice 115874 12 Outlet Rotating Surge Protector Power Block/Strip - UL Rated, 4,320 Joules - Black, 10ft Heavy Duty Cord - Grounded & Protected Light Indicator by Ryan Calabro

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent surge protector with flexible plug arrangement

Oddly enough, it looks almost exactly like the Belkin brand power strip (although it also has a cord in/out) that Revain is offering to me at the moment. I wonder what's going on there. 12 end caps with the outer ones rotating as you would expect from a product listing. Note that it's highly unlikely that you should plug 12 devices into a standard 15 amp outlet, but it depends on what the devices are and whether you're using them all at the same time. But you can make it work for your media center. (If you have powerful speakers etc, you might want to reconsider this.) It also matters what other outlets or overhead lights are plugged into the same circuit, which can sometimes be hard to figure out in older homes. 15 amps is probably the maximum for the entire circuit, and the single outlet you plug this into is only part of the entire circuit. In this sense, it does not prevent you from disconnecting the circuit. I find the "grounded circuit" indicator useful in this old house. It turned out that some of my outlets weren't properly grounded. In general you probably don't need this, but I find it quite handy when connecting expensive electronics to a surge protector. They don't show you the back of it, but it does have a couple of mounting holes in case you want to mount it on a wall.
