If you're expecting a rug - one that comes rolled with a hard backing - you'll be surprised. This item comes vacuum packed and is about the size of a coffee table. Opening the package will result in some bloating, but not like opening a vacuum-packed mattress. I laid it on the floor overnight to see if it stretched, but the next morning it was still a shriveled mess, more like a baby blanket than anything. Luckily I read a review that suggested throwing it in the dryer for a while and that seemed to help. It has fluffed up a bit and is now more like a carpet. Still not what I would call a rug. More like a thin memory foam floor covering. I use it at the foot of the bed because it has a rubber backing that keeps it from sliding too much. It still has some creases that I included in the photos. Would I recommend it to everyone? Not really.
