I bought this and the 3145 code reader at the same time hoping I could use it to do a KOER test myself from the cab of my 1990. Pickup Ford Ranger. But unfortunately I never got that far. When I first tried to run the KOEO test with it, the code reader wouldn't go into test mode. I've tried several times with no success. Finally, I removed the extension cord and plugged the code reader directly into my truck's test sockets. The reader went into test mode on the first try and I was able to successfully complete the KOEO test. I don't know what the problem is but instead of playing with a replacement cable I just returned it for a refund. You don't need an extension cord for the KOEO test with a code reader, and for the KOER test I just sit in the booth and count the flashes of the CE light. This extension cord looks well made and the length is perfect, but for some reason the code reader on my car couldn't enter test mode. I suspect it was a problem with the ground wire in the cable, but I'll never know for sure.
