Review on aptX Low Latency Bluetooth Receiver for Home Stereo - Wireless Audio Streaming Adapter (UL Charger Excluded) by Amanda Reynolds

Suitable for use with a single device, avoid if you plan to connect more than one phone/device

Update: I've had this for a few months now. The range is about average. Sound quality is good, but multi-device support is flawed at best. Whenever I connect more than one device to it, I almost always have to forget and fix it sooner or later. Even disabling Bluetooth on all paired devices nearby and trying to connect again with the same device often results in a complete disconnection. Old review: I bought this for use in older cars that don't have built in Bluetooth. fits easily in any cup holder or the center console. The only downside is that it says "Power on" in a rather awkward notation, followed by a beep when you first turn it on. It also beeps when the phone connects, but not when it disconnects. If there was a way to disable this I would give 5 stars. When using it at home or in the car, I didn't hear any hissing, hissing or humming. If you experience this, it may be due to grounding issues. I didn't buy it to use as a speaker for calls but I couldn't receive calls on my phone to play it. I believe Android devices have a separate "Headset" or "Phone" mode for this. My phone only plays "media audio" on this device. Strangely there is an option on my phone to allow reading. Obviously it doesn't have audio input, so you can't use it as a true speakerphone if you plug your phone into a console or similar. If that's what you're looking for, there are dedicated Bluetooth devices for that. aptx worked great with my phone. I noticed that the aptx indicator lights up after the streaming starts, a simple connection didn't turn on the indicator for my phone until the sound/music started playing. I don't have an aptx-ll test device. Some reviewers noted a loss of bass, but except for the very low end I didn't notice any difference, and even then a slight EQ adjustment fixed it. I've tested it with studio monitor headphones and home theater speakers. I use this in my car with factory speakers so I haven't done extensive testing on the bass issue. I tried it on a couple of TVs but they were older and poorer quality. I would double check what your TV supports and get a transmitter with newer bluetooth/better codec support if needed. Please note that this device is only a receiver and therefore does not work wirelessly with headphones. I believe HomeSpot has a similar product that has a transmitter for use with wireless headphones. I haven't had any range issues, but haven't tried outside of specs. The maximum line of sight I tried was about 40 feet. It worked well from the next room and the floor below. The only time he lost contact was about 50 feet from the ground floor with two walls in between. Please note that this does not mean that it will work in your home at this distance if other devices are interfering with it.
