It's strange that the kit doesn't include a plug but there are so many 12v plugs I guess it's not easy. I connect this to a battery (charged by solar panels) works great. Enough light to give a slight glow to move around camp after dark. If you're going to read a book, you might need something lighter. Consumes very little power, in fact I have a RavPower battery pack that doesn't work with it because the power draw was so low that the RavPower shut down.

We bought the first rope to wrap firewood in the fire pit as an outdoor decoration. We liked the bright, soft, white little lights so much that we bought 10 more strings. 6 of these strings now adorn one of the two Japanese maple trees. Just great! This is a great product for its niche with its 12v specifications. Pictures are attached. The headlights are very bright and appear solidly made. Nothing more was to be expected. I'll say that while the bulbs aren't "cool white," they fall somewhere between cold and old-fashioned incandescent garlands. I think they're around 5000k on the color gamut. I returned it almost dead on arrival - either all or half of the LEDs weren't working. But then I tested again. It will not work in the center-to-end direction of a long (100+ feet) garden wire where the voltage will drop below 12V due to a voltage drop due to distance from the transformer. (I have good wire - 12 gauge, not 16 or even 14). It works great closer to the transformer before there is a voltage drop due to the length of the landscape lighting cable.
