Great Dog Food good for me

My Lab is a picky eater and she doesn't like to eat dry food, unless I mix it with wet dog food. I wanted to try the Royal Canin since reading such great reviews. As soon as I opened the bag, my Lab was literally begging for some. She loves it! The Royal Canin dog food has big kernels, ranging about 1/2"-1" in size, it's cylindrical, and has a brown color. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and my dog is completely satisfied.

Pros
  • N/A
Cons
  • Contains chicken by-product meal

My lab loves this food. Be careful of the .

My lab loves this food. Be careful of the feeding guidelines on the package (as with most guidelines on dog food bags). When we switched to this food I fed slightly under the guidelines because our pups are older and neutered. After 6 months my lab gained 10lbs even though we fed less than the bag guidelines. After talking with my vet, we cut down a little and he's losing the gained weight.

Pros
  • Supports bone & joint health with EPA, DHA, and glucosamine to support large, strong bodies
Cons
  • Some dogs may develop allergies to the ingredients over time

Great food: my feedback

My labs stomach is very sensitive everything made her stomach upset so far this has been really great no issues Expensive compared to other brands of dog food.

Pros
  • I love the product, and so did my Labrador. Because I recently became a widow, I cannot afford it.
Cons
  • Expensive compared to other brands of dog food

OUr Spry 13 Year Old Labrador's Coat Still Glows

Our female lab will be 13 in a couple of months and has been dining on Royal Canin since she was 20 months old. She still gets compliments on how her coat shines and her teeth are in good shape for an elderly lab. Plus she is still pretty spry for an old gal - not as good as she once was, but as good once as he ever was. One has to think her diet must have something to do with her healthy condition. On top of everything else, she has always loved how it tastes. When we adopted a 14 month old lab

Pros
  • Supports healthy skin and a shiny coat
Cons
  • Packaging may be too difficult to open for some pet owners

She has transitioned and it has had great effects. She eats less

I was using the Science Diet large breed dog food. My Lab started biting at her fur and pulling it out. I took her to the vet for allergy shots to try and prevent it. I had run out of her regular dog food, and in a rush just bought a small bag of cheap stuff from the local grocery store. I noticed she stopped biting at her fur, which led me to believe it was her dog food causing her problems. I didn't want to stay with the cheap stuff for health reasons, so I gave this one a shot. She has…

Pros
  • Specially formulated for Labrador Retrievers
Cons
  • Can cause bladder stones in some dogs

Correct nutrition for my Labrador, who is my service dog

High on cost, but worth every penny for the correct balance of nutrition for my breed. Highly recommended by my breeder.

Pros
  • 4.25 x 15.5 x 25.5 inches; 17 Pounds
Cons
  • Some dogs may experience stomach upset while transitioning to this food

Kudos to ebay good for me

This review is more about ebay than Royal Canin (which I love and feed to my two working labradors daily). I live on an island in SE Alaska with no road connection to the outside, so shipping is an issue. I have been special ordering this dog food through a local store for years. With ebay pricing and shipping, I can get three bags for what I pay locally for two bags, and still have lunch money in my pocket. Plus ebay shipping is twice as fast.

Pros
  • Provides a balanced and complete diet
Cons
  • Can cause excessive shedding in some dogs

Vet recommended and dogs love it!

Our labs are getting up in years (9.5) & the vet recommended this brand of food for them. They LOVE it! In fact, they love it so much I don't even buy treats anymore-- I just use pieces of the food. It seems to have given them a little more energy and I feel better knowing they're getting the proper dietary needs for their breed & age.I love not having to lug giant bags of dog food from the store. I feel a bit sorry for the UPS man, but he's younger than me.

Pros
  • Helps reduce the risk of obesity
Cons
  • May not have enough protein for active dogs

Vet Recommended, I Researched

ETA on 1/7/13: Still using this dog food and loving it! My dogs are very healthy and happy. I hadn't been ordering through ebay because I'm not so good at planning ahead and was worried after my previous shipments were taking longer but my last order shipped in two days. Thanks!ETA on 1/5/11: BE AWARE THAT THIS ITEM IS NOT BEING SHIPPED PRIME ANYMORE. TWO DAY SHIPPING HAS BEEN DROPPED AND FREE STANDARD (SUPER SAVER) SHIPPING WHICH TAKES ABOUT A WEEK IS HOW IT IS BEING SHIPPED DUE TO ITS WEIGHT.

Pros
  • Contains no artificial flavors or preservatives
Cons
  • Not ideal for dogs with a history of allergies

He finally stopped scratching.

I have a 5 year old lab mix who has always had trouble with excessive scratching, self-chewing, and shedding during the wintertime. We tried all the special oils in his foods, had multiple vets check him out, and no one had the answer. Finally, about a year ago, it started happening in the summer too, so we decided to do an elimination diet to see if he was allergic to anything. We would give him 2-3 weeks on a limited ingredient food and watch for improvement, and if there wasn't improvement…

Pros
  • Good
Cons
  • Contains corn which is not ideal for all dogs

Best dog food I ever bought

The food was recommended to me by my dog's Vet, so we switched over from Blue Buffalo (grain free). My dog seems to like this way more, she is always excited to eat her food. I am just glad we switched because grain free foods are bad for dogs' hearts.

Pros
  • Helps maintain muscle mass
Cons
  • Can cause some dogs to develop heart issues

Won’t buy anything else. Best dry food out there

Don’t love price but you get what you pay for. My chocolate labs coat was transformed. He loves the taste and it lasts a solid month. Love this brand.

Pros
  • Ideal for senior Labrador Retrievers
Cons
  • Not a good option for dogs with liver issues

Vet recommended but Really expensive

The food seems to have calmed our labs stomach issues. He has slowed down how fast he eats but that is relative. He is still a veracious Lab. And though I would do almost anything for our pet who is part of our family, it pains me to pay 200% more for this food over other high quality foods.

Pros
  • Made from high-quality ingredients
Cons
  • May cause some dogs to develop food aversions

Great Value! for my opinion

My vet recommended this food for our 2 yr old Lab. Royal Canin spends less on advertising, and more on researching canine nutrition than some other well known brands. The formula is designed specifically for the breed, and the large kibble with a hole inside helps promote chewing. Like most Labs, she still inhales her food, but at least it slows her down a bit! She's been eating this food for about 6 months and has a beautiful, soft coat. It's a real bonus to be able to have the 30 lb bag…

Pros
  • Supports a healthy immune system
Cons
  • Not sold in larger bags

Check package upon delivery

The product itself is awesome. However, the 30 pound bag was only half full. Not noticed on delivery as it was vacuum sealed. Once opened it was very apparent that only about 15 pounds were in the bag.

Pros
  • My lab loves them,
Cons
  • Packaging is not environmentally friendly

Great dog food for labs

My lab needed to lose weight and this has really been helping over time! She eats it right away and continues to enjoy it That's my feedback!

Pros
  • Dry
Cons
  • May not be affordable for all dog owners

Ok just not for her

Well I'm not going to give it a bad review, my dog didn't like this, now she is a very picky 100lb yellow lab. And she seems to like the smaller bits that the yorkie food has.

Pros
  • My 13 yr and 2yr Labradors love this food
Cons
  • May cause digestive issues for some dogs

Best dog food! for my opinion

I Love this dog food. My dog no longer gets itchy. He no longer throws up. He loves the food and I like the fact that they have holes in them because he inhales his food and if he were to choke, he could still get air through. He absolutely loves the food too!

Pros
  • Helps with mental acuity and focus
Cons
  • May not provide enough energy for active dogs

First Time Trying High Quality Dog Food

When a 1 year old yellow lab showed up on our back porch and we couldnt find its owners, we took him in. I knew yellow labs have problems with their joints and weight, and after hearing about Royal Canin from a co-worker, we had to try it out. I did not want to see Buddy (our adopted pup) go through what my dad's yellow lab went through before passing away. We already had a black lab/brindle boxer mix who always ate the less expensive food. It was time to feed them quality product. This product…

Pros
  • Provides energy for an active lifestyle
Cons
  • Contains gluten which is not ideal for dogs
