One of these keys is well programmed. The second of the pair didn't work at all; The locksmith cut out the key and programmed it. However, he had serious difficulties programming it, and although the key opens the doors, the chip is defective, preventing the car from turning on. I bought this key after my girlfriend's original Subaru key was accidentally knocked off. We went to a local locksmith in San Jose who not only was able to program, cut and fabricate the key, they did it for less than the dealer - actually MUCH CHEAPER and did a great job. My dealer was working on my 2013 Crosstrack and then said I needed to reprogram the keys. I took 2 keys and when I went to pick it up they said they could only program 1 key or 3 keys but not 2. They would sell me another key for $320. I ordered this and called a locksmith. He programmed the second key without any problems. I didn't even need a 3D key. Then I cut and programmed this key. He was here less than 10 minutes and took $100. So for less than half the retail price I can go.

As everyone can clearly see my locksmith trying to get this unit to work the unlock button on the panel is missing. I repeat, there is no precise tool or mechanism on the board itself to unlock the car, which is mandatory for the key.
