2014 BMW M4 - Spares

Installed on a 2014 BMW M4. I was surprised to see such a big difference with a pair of air filters (the charcoal filters were removed at the same time). The turbines spin faster and the engine noise is a bit more pronounced. Highly recommended upgrade - cheap, easy and effective.

Oil Soaked Air Filters

Good quality filters but they are completely soaked in oil. If I installed them without first cleaning off the excess oil, they would have destroyed the sensors in the intake manifolds. When I say soaked, I literally mean dripping with oil. It makes no sense to pour so much oil into the filter.

Low quality. Dangerous for the engine.

These K&N filters had a few loose pieces of black rubber on and inside the filter. If these parts get into the turbocharger, the consequences can be catastrophic. These pieces of rubber tore off the filter cover, see photo. Proceed with caution or avoid it altogether.

F80 BMW M3 - worked great!

Considering BMW's bad train of thought in placing a giant carbon fiber front brace just above the airboxes, changing the filters on my M3 was a fairly easy task. There are several videos on YouTube to help you deal with this. The whole process has taken about 45 minutes since I first changed them and was careful and a bit slow. Beware of excessive oil saturation at the factory which can cause serious costly problems.

One thing I could warn you about is that after reading and hearing on the forums about oil getting into the intake and causing big gremlins, I opened the box and took it out of the plastic bag to get rid of this oversaturated oil found from the factory.
