Works perfectly and is worth the money.

I've been using this dock for a few months now and it's working great. It connects/disconnects easily and many ports work as expected. It comes with a massive 170W power adapter, which is great for desktop use. I've used it with a dual-screen monitor setup, which allows you to continue using the laptop's built-in monitor as a third screen. My only suggestion for Lenovo is to drill some screw holes in the bottom of the device so you can screw it to the table for security. You can connect a…

LOTS of flexibility

I have a ThinkPad 520W. It's powerful enough to replace my desktop. But a 15 inch screen is not enough. The MiniDock allowed me to add two external 24-inch monitors alongside the laptop's display. Now I have three desktops. I usually keep a dozen windows open at a time, so three screens is a great feature. I figured I would turn off the laptop display and just use two monitors, but I like having three views. The 520W has a USB3. MiniDock adds more USB3. It's not that important to me at the…

Best dock for ThinkPad W530

I've been using it for many years and I've never had any problems. I have a DisplayPort to USB 3 adapter that plugs into a USB3 slot and when I really need more USB slots I have a USB3 4 port adapter that works great with it. You need to connect a DVI and a DisplayPort to get dual monitors or it won't work (e.g. if you connect 2 DVI or 2 DisplayPort). All regular USBs work fine and there are 6 of them. VGA works great too. So if you want you can use DVI, DisplayPort and VGA to set up 3…

Pros
  • Nice packaging

  • Really don't like it, everything is fine

USB 3.0 is the ticket but it's expensive

Dock works fine. One note - it took me 5 minutes of frantic searching before I realized that the AUDIO OUT mini RCA connectors are on the right side and below the installed laptop. Don't look for it on the back. USB 3.0 is great for an external hard drive - backups are fast. However, I'm not sure if it's the cable that came with my USB 3.0 HD or this dock adapter, but the USB 3.0 connector is a bit loose and you need to make sure it's tight and the dock isn't moved or the cable may lose…

Great pick-and-play or install-and-go desktop option

They don't have to be that expensive, but they're great for people who have a workstation that they use most of the time. Mine was hooked up to an extra power adapter, 24" screen, mouse and ethernet. The spring that presses the plate against the connectors doesn't always push it out properly, but it made it easier to just plug my laptop into my computer. this and more. When you're done, just press the eject button and put my laptop away. Mine was probably used in some corporate environment…

Quality is dropping but still works

I bought this for my new Thinkpad W510 quad core VMware workstation running Linux as a host. Something to be aware of. Apparently the original Lenovo docking station came with a 135W power adapter. This was for W510+ quad core laptops. Lenovo recently switched the power adapter for the docking station to 175W. According to Lenovo, there is no difference between the two documents - this change only affected the power supply. The reason for this was that a 135W PSU would not be enough if the…

Not quite plug n' play

Pros - All the data, audio and video connections we could ask for. My goal was to use my W520 to replace an outdated wireless home desktop running two printers. The ThinkPad MiniDock Plus Series 3 Dock (170W) should help. The W520 fits easily into the docking station. The PSU is the same size as my W520 PSU so there is no problem here. However, I cannot boot from the docking station. I only get a black and white ThinkPad boot screen, which then goes to a black screen and never gets to the…
