Junk for office electronics

Takes care of displaying information about the caller and stores up to 100 calls in memory. Current call display works, but after storing multiple calls in memory the characters change to show full gibberish when viewing history. If you want the call log, don't buy it because it doesn't work.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Almost never

Could never get it to work.

I wish I had saved all the packaging for this piece of junk. It seems to have worked for a while. After a while it just burst and I just threw it away. Since then I've replaced all my phones with ones that show caller ID and I'm (fairly) happy with them. You'd think an old name like AT&T would think before putting its logo on garbage like this. There was a time when everything was done right by the phone company (remember? The phone company).

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Zero

these things last forever

I bought two of your earlier models 6 years ago and they lasted forever and worked well. Unfortunately we lost them in the last corner and we had to bite and take new ones. We weren't surprised to see that they are almost the same and work great as the others. We have phones all over the house and I like to see who is calling before I answer. They are easy to connect and use. They are small and obtrusive. Hey, who can beat the price?

Pros
  • hands free
Cons
  • annoying

Can't see offspring

I recently purchased an AT&T 436 and it is displaying calls from landlines as it should. However, calls from AT&T cordless phones are not logged, instead "Error Present" or "Line Error" is displayed. Oddly, my other caller ID devices, including my AT&T wall phone, Bell South caller ID, and Panasonic cordless phone, display both cell and landline numbers. Even more interestingly, this caller ID block from AT&T specifically rejects calls from AT&T's own family. Find out! I returned it for a full…

Not DSL compatible

I love the features of this device and wish it were even better if it had all the features listed by some other reviewers like call sorting and an adjustable LCD display . Mine has none of these features. But my real complaint is that my Caller Display 436 doesn't work when my DSL modem is plugged into the wall. It works fine as long as no DSL is connected. My caller id display phones work all the time. I love the fact that this device comes with an AC adapter and no batteries. A backup battery

Pros
  • Long range
Cons
  • Not as good as it says it is

NO lighting! good for landline

Original review: April 19, 2004 --- What a disappointment! After 5 years of using the Pacific Bell Caller ID Unit (model CIDCO DB99) I had no idea that the Caller ID Unit would come without a backlight. We had to use a flashlight to see the display on our wall! (The lamp blurs the display.) The display is adjustable, but of the 5 settings, 1 is so bright it's almost invisible, and 4 and 5 are filled with black boxes around the numbers, making them mostly unreadable. Only setting 3 is…
