This is a good idea that looks solid and feels great for a number of reasons. In fact, this safe can barely connect to the internet when it's near a router, let alone in a room or outdoors. God forbid you miss the 30 day return window as the company will respond with radio silence.

Although the product is built like a brick the one I received was either defective or had a dead battery to begin with. Couldn't even turn it on by following the pathetic instructions that came with the device. Actually found the right site to go to once it was finally up and running. I couldn't get most of the features of this safe to work. Customer service said I had bad wifi and that was the problem. However, I have no other issues with my WiFi with other devices. I can walk almost half a block from my house and still access Wi-Fi with my phone. Even if this box is next to the router, it doesn't work. 1. I received the box and immediately (unknowingly) locked it without removing the battery tab. So when you receive it for the first time, make sure you OPEN the box. TIP: You do NOT have to move the switch up to open it. Since I blocked it first, I went with a 9 volt adapter and plugged it in from the bottom. This allowed me to launch the installer. Great safe once you understand how it works. This box takes a little getting used to at first and works great once I know what it's doing. Apparently the box goes to sleep after every successful unlock and there is a 20 second delay after unlocking before I can press the * key to turn it back on. From the outside this safe looks big enough to hold a slightly larger set of keys (2 Mercedes keys and 2 motorcycle keys). But when you open it, you will unfortunately find that 3/4 of that space is taken up by the locking mechanism, electronics and batteries.
