On my 2007 Mini Cooper S Turbo 1.6L (N14 R56) the tool did not fit due to interference with the turbo. to cut off about 1/4 inch from one piece (see picture). Then everything went well.

later for the price of the tool it's a normal working tool it aligns the timing correctly but one end of the tool had to be cut off. approx 3/4 inch for a 2007 Mini Cooper, the tool meets the turbine so you either remove the turbine which takes much longer and may break some rusty bolts or trim the tool to fit. Otherwise it is a normal instrument.

Attachments fit well on 2007 Mini Cooper, not S, with N12 engine. The flywheel pin needs to be stripped as mentioned, I had to re-weld the wire handle on as mentioned. The quickest way to bend the pin is to use a thin file, as you are rolling the pin very slowly over a hard surface. By rolling it you reduce the flat spots you can imagine when using a file. I tried emery on a lathe and sanded by hand with different grit sandpaper. Use a file. 5 minutes.

I've read some disheartening reviews that this toolkit needs modification to work with the n14 engine but bought it anyway. Well, it turns out this toolkit requires modifications to work. The crank lock pin will not fit without grinding it to a smaller diameter and the exhaust side camshaft locking tool needs to cut off a chunk to clean the turbo. The quality of the brackets is also not convincing. I'm pretty sure this is a bad set of imitations of something that will get these engines running…
