Prevention against zebra mussel

I live on a lake and am having issues with invasive zebra mussels throughout the pump intake. The copper mesh shell is meant to keep the clams out and I think it works.

Pros
  • Easy to use: copper wire can be easily bent. You can cut it into different shapes or sizes according to your use.
Cons
  • Expensive

Not what they say

Photos show reel. All 3 of mine came in a plastic envelope and were obviously folded. None of the 3 were the same size, and at least one was not the measured length described. I got them to work for what I needed, but I wouldn't order them again.

Works well for making a snail fence

Wanted to make a fence around the seeds. stick them in soil on the ground, otherwise the snails will mow them down as soon as they appear (and then I never have plants, let alone flowers). It more or less worked (at least I have the plants this time), although it was a bit "fussy".
