does what it should

just plug n play. Writes more than 1 Gbps to nvme. My only complaint is that the Windows drivers come on a CD. Most modern computers don't even have optical drives, so I had to search online for drivers. lasted about 5 minutes. No wow what a deal. One more thing, it installs "upside down" so I have to turn the SD card upside down to insert it. Again, no big deal and overall I'm happy with this purchase!

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Good SD card reader on Windows, bad drivers on Linux

Quality internal SD card readers are hard to find these days and this card was the first of its kind I've seen. Good design, feels solid, compact form factor. Good speed on Windows (sequential read/write 90MB+). If you only use Windows, this is a good card. Linux drivers are bad and not officially shipped by Alcor as far as I know. On average it is 1.5 MB/s. Although Linux support was never officially advertised, I can't call this card "perfect" without it. I would definitely buy a card with a…

Exactly as advertised and expected

This was a very simple installation to bring new life to an aging tower. Using a card reader for portable storage and ReadyBoost. Works perfectly!

Pros
  • Good item
Cons
  • Minor issues

Very fast Computers and accessories

This is an SD only card reader and seems to outperform the cheap USB 3.1 card reader I used to use. It maximizes the card's capabilities and appears to run at the fastest SD card read and write speeds. In addition, the initial installation of the card reader and drivers is quick and easy.

Pros
  • There's something in there
Cons
  • Has some drawbacks

As advertised. good for computers and accessories

Easy installation, yes it can be a hassle always reaching to the back of the case to install and remove SD cards, but at least it requires fewer cables and only one PCI Slot. It also allows you to use the front of the case with fans for cooling, which can look a lot nicer and potentially more viable than filling it up with drive bays.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Excellent goods! (if you have rear access)

My wife is an avid photographer and her USB card reader has been hanging on our car for years. I wanted to add a 3.5" reader to the front of the drive bay, but I don't have an available internal USB port to plug it in, and when I've installed them on previous computers they show up as (multiple) drives, even with no card in them (and they tend to have too many slots for archaic card types). Our computer is on its side so this is PERFECT. The card comes in and out clean and only appears in This…

Pros
  • Poorly thought out

Rear SD card reader

The back of my custom PC faces me on my desk, so having a rear SD card reader suited me. I had to plug in an external DVD drive to run the installer, which was annoying, but it worked and I'm happy with it.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • No performance
