Just works: data storage

just plug and work like other buyers. No driver required. Basically it just routes the PCIe lanes from the bus to the SSD.

Pros
  • computers and accessories
Cons
  • many things

Small, cheap, arrived next day

I bought a Samsung 983 DCT SSD for my Dell T320 server. I wasn't thinking of a non-SATA interface, so without the right cables I couldn't get it to work when I got it. I tried several mini SAS cables but they didn't work. Couldn't find a SAS-PCIe NVME cable either. I finally found this little $26 PCIe adapter and $27 Mini-SAS U.2 SFF-8643-SFF-8639 cable and I was connected. I had to make sure my Dell server was set to UEFI boot mode and had to use Rufus to create a bootable USB stick to install

Pros
  • Datastore
Cons
  • Available in white only

Worked great with SuperMicro X11

Worked great with the Intel DC P3600 SSD I had installed on my VMware host. Had to make some BIOS changes for my SuperMicro motherboard, but that was entirely up to the motherboard. The new storage appeared immediately and was prepared for the new VMs.

Pros
  • Computer and Accessories
Cons
  • Repair

Just works for internal SSD

As with other buyers, this is just plug and play. No driver required. Basically it just routes the PCIe lanes from the bus to the SSD.

Pros
  • Senior internal SSD
