Works perfectly. on coils

A definite improvement over the coil that was in my 1973 Ford 302. Runs better and I'm sure my car feels better with chrome trim - I know that.

Pros
  • 1.4 ohm primary and 9.2k ohm secondary
Cons
  • Nothing here

A good alternative at a reasonable price

Works as it should. I have never used an external Accel coil, all others in my past have been HEI units. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if needed.

Pros
  • Max voltage 42000 volts
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Dangerous explosives!

After installation I checked the voltage, everything was fine, I left the accessory switch on while I checked other wires and the coil exploded and spattered hot oil all over the car and my garage.

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Not the best

Top spec coil

Well I actually bought my first Collar Accel Superstock ignition coil for my car and wow what a difference compared to the stock coil. Anyway, this coil is for another of the many family cars that use a canister coil. It works so well it went from 23-25mpg on my dad's car to 28mpg on a 1979 Ford Mustang 2.3L 4 cyl Gasoline No Turbo No A/C No P/S. The car has a remanufactured block but it has been in the car for more than 5 years but less than 10 years since then.

Pros
  • Coils
Cons
  • Fits

Looks good but doesn't work

I originally gave it a 4 but now it's definitely a 1. It worked fine for a week but then every time it was fine and the engine went out hot and sometimes just numb at idle. I removed this and reinstalled my original coil, problem solved. I should have read the previous negative reviews as they describe the same problem I had. It was added to ACCEL's 2010 Dot Elimination Kit. I figured since I did this it might as well replace the 50 year old OE coil. They returned the native coil withโ€ฆ
