Buying an Ac Delco for the first time

If you are in doubt about buying an Ac Delco thermostat or any other brand, read this. The Durallast thermostat that I installed on my 2012 Chevy 1500 with the 5.3 engine was getting too hot. It works stably at 230 degrees. The AC Delco thermostat set the temperature straight to 210 and I had no issues with fluctuations or overheating.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • No performance

Fits my G8 GT 2009.1

This ACDelco is the original replacement for my G8. It's a powerful thermostat, just like the original it would have replaced. Unfortunately I had to opt for a different brand (faint looking) thermostat from my local parts store as the ACDelco did not arrive on the promised date. Eventually I'll get around to replacing the flimsy thermostat with an ACDelco. Crazy. I know!

Pros
  • Enjoy
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Stuck on 2nd day of use.

A waste of time and money. This thing sticks right out of the box. I installed it two days ago, everything was fine the first day. When I rode it today my temp was below 170 then it jumped to 210 after stopping for a while. I haven't checked what brand is stamped on it, maybe it's a different brand changed to AC Delco as happened to someone else here. I have an Avalanche 09 with an aftermarket heavy duty aluminum 4 row radiator with new tubes.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • Almost never

Fits Tahoe 5.3 2014

It came and was supposed to be a genuine GM part. It's hard to tell as you can get any number of different types of packaging that technically fall under the GM brand (yes, Delco is GM). The 5.3 Vortec in my Tahoe (like the Silverado 1500, Avalanche, GMC, and some other models) requires that specific temperature, 187F (the thermostat itself says it's 86C, which isn't exactly the same, but close enough). My Tahoe was easier to swap out than my old Jeep. On my model, the radiator doesn't have a…
